The KYC Form is a physical document required for the initial opening of an account, updating account details, and continuing to operate an account. State Bank of India used that form to verify your identity, latest address, and personal details as per the RBI’s Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines.
It works for all customers, including individuals (savings), joint accounts, minors, NRI accounts, and businesses.
- Example: you change your address, name, or get a new ID document → you must update KYC.
When Do You Need an SBI KYC Form?
You will need to fill out and submit the KYC form in these situations:
- When opening a new SBI account
- When updating KYC (address, PAN, New ID)
- If your account counts as an RBI High-risk or medium-risk category
- When a minor turns 18 years (major)
- If your account is inactive for 2 years, SBI may ask for re-KYC before reactivating it.
- When SBI sends an SMS/email reminder for re-KYC,
- sometimes banks do a normal yearly Basic KYC for safety from fraud
Note – Your account may be frozen, or your transactions via UPI or netbanking will not work until the KYC update.
Types of SBI KYC Forms (Annexures)
There are multiple SBI KYC Forms for KYC or ReKYC. Here is where most people (and even some SBI staff) get confused. No, a single individual account holder does not need all 3 forms. Which Annexure or form you use depends only on your situation and requirement — not everyone needs all of them.
Scenario | Which Form / Annexure to Use | Description |
---|---|---|
1. No change in KYC information | Annexure – A | You just confirm that your details (address, PAN, Aadhaar, and wrong details) have not changed. Used for simple re-KYC. |
2. Change in address only | Annexure – C | You have changed house or city, but nothing else. You have to attach a new OVD with the current address (like Aadhaar, electricity bill, rent agreement). |
3. Change in any KYC details (name, PAN, signature, photo, etc.) | Annexure – B | Used if any KYC info changes — e.g., you got married and changed surname, updated PAN, changed photo, etc. Requires OVD + photograph. |
4. If you were a minor and are now turned major (18 years) | Annexure – B | Worked the same as above, but needs a minor new OVD (scanned copy document) and a passport photo required. |
Note: You will fill in only one annexure at a time.
