In case you want to get a physical hard copy of your statement for a period older than 2 months, the SBI may have nominal charges of ₹100 + GST for each statement. Moreover, RBI encourages users to use digital statements to promote faster access and reduce paper usage.
How to Register for SBI Card e-Statements
If you have not received digital statement emails from SBI Cards, you need to subscribe to them. Don’t worry, it is completely free of cost. Here are the steps to activate e-statements through the SBI Card app –
- Download the SBI Card App.
- Log in using your credit card number.
- Set your 6-digit MPIN OR Fingerprint or Face unlock for login.
- Navigate to the Dashboard > Services > scroll down and select E-Statement Subscription.
- Tap on Update Email ID.
- Enter your new email address.
- An OTP will be sent to your new email ID to complete the process.
- Verify the OTP, and you’re all set!
Once the process is done successfully, you will start receiving your monthly credit card statements automatically in your inbox.
Now, move to the next and important part. After receiving the emails, you need to unlock it using the correct and latest password format set by SBI.
Steps to Open Your SBI Credit Card Statement
- Download the Statement: Open your Inbox, search for the SBI card statement, open the email, scroll down to the end of it, and tap on the download button.
- Open The PDF: To open the PDF file, you will a PDF reader such as Google PDF Viewer, Adobe PDF reader or Foxit Reader.
- Enter the Password:
To unlock the credit card e-statement PDF, the SBI sets the password format as your Date of Birth in DDMMYYYY format followed by the Last 4 digits of your Credit Card Number.

If your date of birth is 15 August 2000 and your credit card’s last four numbers are XXXX 5432, then enter the password = 150820005432
Also, Make sure there are no spaces and symbols between the DOB and card number.

Troubleshooting E-statement PDF File Issues

- Wrong Password Error – As I already said, always double-check your DOB and card digits. no symbols, extra words, and no spaces while entering the password.
- PDF Not Opening – Try a different PDF reader (like Adobe Reader or Open App store and update your existing PDF reader).
- Outdated App or Browser – As per SBI Said, Older Internet Explorer and Firefox versions sometimes do not work due to security reasons. so download the latest Web browser.
- Statement Not Received – Recheck the email ID registered with SBI.
- Corrupt PDF File – Try downloading the file again.
- Space issue: Please check the storage space of your email and device, then try again.

Can I open the SBI Card statement without entering a password?
