It contains the credit card bill payment that you have to pay before the due date. Furthermore, it also records your transactions and banking details, including –

  1. Personal Details: Your name, email, mobile number, address.
  2. Statement Period: This particular period is covered in the statement.
  3. Credit Limit: Total limit using your card.
  4. Available Credit: The remaining amount of credit you can use.
  5. Total Outstanding Balance: Total amount that you owe, including newly charged amounts.
  6. Minimum Payment Due: The minimum amount that should be paid to avoid penalties.
  7. Transaction Summary: A detailed report that gives itemized purchases, payments, and charges in the period covered in the statement.

Why Are BOB Cards Statements Password-Protected?

For all your sensitive information and transactions that I mentioned above, these statements are sent to you only via your email. As per RBI’s official website rules and security purposes, the credit card statement PDF comes with a password.

The password on the statement adds an extra layer of safety and protects you from cybercrime and unauthorised access.

Note: Remember never to share your email statements with any unknown. It contains sensitive information, if someone hacked your email, please visit a bank branch and update it.

How to Open Your BOB Credit Card Statement

Now that you understand why these statements are password-protected, here’s how to open them.

1 Step: Locate your Email From BOB

  • First, go to your email app and check your inbox for an email from BOB Cards with a PDF Statement. You can also search for it in the search bar.

2 Step: Download the PDF

  • Simply open the email and scroll down to the end of it.
  • Now, click on the attached PDF File and tap on the save button.

3 Step: Open the PDF with a Reader (if required)

Suppose you are using multiple PDF readers such as Adobe Acrobat, Google Chrome, or the built-in viewer on your phone. Select one and open it.

Step 4: Enter the Password

To unlock the BOB credit card statement, the bank uses a password format that combines the first four uppercase letters of your name (as printed on the card) and your birth date in DDMM format.

Let me give you an example of a format –

  • Name on Credit Card: LAXMAN
  • Date of Birth: 17/08/2000
  • The password will be LAX1708

By entering this password correctly, you can unlock and access it.

If you are facing issues while opening it, here are a few reasons to Fix it-

  1. Re-download the PDF: if the file does not open at all, you can navigate to your email inbox and download it again. It might be corrupted.
  2. Try a different PDF Reader: Older PDF readers may cause issues. Try using a different one, such as Adobe Reader (I recommend)
  3. Use Uppercase letters: As I already said, the characters of the name must be in the capital. Please recheck.
  4. Use a Different device: Simply log in to your email on your desktop and try to download the PDF there. Sometimes, issues with web browsers or devices.
  5. Downloading failed: if you are receiving an SMS like downloading failed, please check your email space and phone storage space.
  6. Cannot find the downloaded file: This can be the most common reason. One of my client is having this issue, he downloaded the PDF but did not find it on their phone. I tell him to go to the File Manager app, navigate to the downloads folder, and scroll down to find the PDF statement.

Not Receiving BOB card E-statement?

Suppose you are not receiving a BOB credit card statement in your email monthly. Follow the steps: First, download the BOB Card app, log in using your credit card number and mobile number, go to my profile and update your email ID. Sometimes, the wrong email ID Can be the reason, if still your problem is not solved, please reach out to the BOB Customer care number, which is mentioned on the back side of your credit card.

If you want an alternative to get your BOB Credit card E-statement, follow these steps –

  1. Go to the Google Play Store or Apple app store.
  2. Search For the BOB Card App and tap on the install button.
  3. Once the installation is complete, Open the app and register your account if you’re a first-time user.
  4. Enter Your Credit card number and mobile number to get OTP.
  5. Enter OTP to verify and Set 4 4-digit MPINs to log in. However, you can also set Face ID or Fingerprint for quick access.
  6. Now, Type Your 4-digit MPIN to log in and access the dashboard.
  7. Scroll down to navigate to the Statement option.
  8. Tap on the statement, select month range, and select PDF Format.
  9. Tap on the Download on Device button directly on your phone.
  10. Use the same password format to open it.
