Reliance SBI Credit Card
Up to 5% value-back on JioMart, AJIO, Reliance Smart & Trends. Rewards on dining and daily spends + fuel surcharge waiver.
💡 Easemoney Tip: Take only if you shop monthly from Reliance stores.

On 31 October 2023, as per RIL, SBI Card and Reliance Retail together launched two cards — Reliance SBI Card and Reliance SBI Card PRIME. Here we are talking about the base Reliance SBI Card only.

In 2026, this entry-level shopping credit card is mainly suitable for customers who regularly shop in Reliance outlets like JioMart, AJIO, Reliance Trends and Reliance Digital, because most rewards are linked to these stores. It is not limited to a single network VISA. The card is issued on RuPay and MasterCard, and contactless tap payment is available, so payment at Reliance billing counters becomes fast and convenient.

So basically, if a customer already spends monthly in Reliance brands, then the card is useful; otherwise benefits will look average.

Reliance SBI Card (Basic Variant) Reward Points Program

The Reliance SBI Card (Basic Variant) reward system is category-based, meaning points are given as per where the customer spends. The main focus is on the Reliance ecosystem, both online and offline, so maximum benefit comes when transactions are happening in Reliance stores and apps. Outside spending also earns points, but the return is comparatively low.

Earning Reward Points

AJIO & JioMart (online)10 points2.5%

  • Not Eligible (no points): Fuel payments, Rent or property payments, and Wallet loading.
  • UPI (RuPay card): If the customer pays through RuPay UPI at a Reliance Retail store, then 1 reward point per ₹100 is also available.
  • Extra RelianceOne Points: On offline grocery stores and Fashion Factory purchases, customers also get 1 RelianceOne point per ₹200 in addition to normal reward points.

Point Value & Redemption

  • 1 reward point = ₹0.25
  • Validity: 24 months (after that expiry)
  • Redemption charge: ₹99 + GST per request

Points can be used for: Gift vouchers, SBI Shop-and-Smile catalogue items, OR Statement credit (bill adjustment).

Apart from reward points, the Basic Reliance Card Variant also gives some practical benefits in 2026, which are mainly useful for regular shoppers and family usage.

Reliance SBI Card (Basic Variant) – Pros, Cons & How to Use Smartly

To get real value from this card, the customer has to mainly stay inside the Reliance shopping. If used like a normal all-purpose credit card, then the benefit becomes very little, and fees start eating into the rewards.

Pros & Cons

ProsCons
2.5% value back on JioMart & AJIO is good for a ₹499 fee card₹99 + GST redemption charge reduces small savings
RuPay variant works on UPI (credit on QR)Only 0.25% return on normal outside spending
Easy annual fee waiver at ₹1 lakh spendOutside Reliance brands, almost no lifestyle perks
Useful for household grocery & clothingReward system works properly only in Reliance stores

The “Do’s” — How to Maximise Benefits

  • Target ₹1,00,000 yearly spend first – Around ₹8,300 monthly spending will save the ₹499 renewal fee.
  • Use for groceries & clothes – Shift monthly groceries to JioMart / Reliance Smart and clothing to AJIO or Trends. Here, you get a proper 1.25%–2.5% return.
  • Use during brand sale periods – Especially AJIO sale days — reward points come extra over store discount.
  • Redeem points in bulk – Don’t redeem small amounts. Because the ₹99 fee applies every time, redeem only after around 2,000+ points (≈₹500 value).
  • Link RuPay card to UPI – Pay small daily QR payments (medical, kirana, dairy, etc.). It helps you reach the ₹1 lakh milestone faster without extra spending.

The “Don’ts” — Where People Lose Money

  • Don’t pay rent or school/college fees – Processing charges apply, and you earn zero points.
  • Don’t load wallets (Paytm, Amazon Pay, etc.) – Around 1% fee may apply and still no reward points.
  • Don’t use for very small fuel payments – Fuel surcharge waiver works only between ₹500 and ₹4,000 transactions.
  • Never carry an outstanding balance – Interest is ~3.5–3.75% per month. One unpaid bill can wipe out full-year rewards.

What is the Eligibility, Salary requirement, And Charges

  • Age: It must be 21 to 70 years
  • Who can apply: Salaried or self-employed person with a regular income

1. Minimum Income (generally expected):

  • Salaried: around ₹20,000 monthly salary
  • Self-employed: about ₹5 lakh annual ITR

Credit Score: Around 750+ CIBIL score gives a much better approval chance. Below that is also possible, but the bank may reduce limit or reject.

2. Credit Limit (What you may get)

The limit is not fixed. SBI Card checks income, job stability and credit history. Normally, for this base variant: ₹15,000 to ₹5,00,000 range is seen in most approvals. (If CIBIL is good and no loan burden → higher limit is possible)

3. Interest Rates & Main Charges

  • Interest (finance charge): up to 3.75% per month (~45% yearly) on the unpaid amount
  • Annual / Renewal fee: ₹499 + GST
  • Fee Waiver: Spend ₹1,00,000 in the previous year → renewal fee becomes zero

Reliance SBI Card (Basic) vs Tata Neu Plus HDFC Card

Right now the nearest competitor of this card is the Tata Neu Plus HDFC Card. Both are entry-level co-branded cards — meaning they give real benefits only inside their own company ecosystem. One works around Reliance stores, the other around Tata brands.

  • If your monthly grocery, fashion and electronics shopping mostly happens in Reliance stores → Reliance SBI Card fits better.
  • If you order from BigBasket, 1mg, Croma or travel occasionally → Tata Neu Plus card gives more overall value, especially because of lounge access and higher normal spend rewards.

So basically, both cards are good, but they depend fully on where your real-life spending is already happening. Choose the ecosystem you already use — not the one that only looks attractive on paper.
