Best Credit card For Unlimited Lounge Access in India

What is an Unlimited Lounge Access Cards?

An unlimited lounge access credit card is a premium card that allows you to enter airport lounges without any fixed limit on visits. But in today’s 2026 market, this benefit is no longer common. It has become a high-end feature, mostly reserved for premium or invite-only users.

Earlier, many cards used to give easy lounge access. But, now banks have shifted to a spend-based system, where most cards require ₹35,000 to ₹75,000 spending in a quarter just to unlock a few visits.

As per the ICICI press release, they set the rule from January 1, 2025, most ICICI Credit Cards minimum spend of ₹75,000 in a calendar quarter to unlock lounge benefits. and many other banks also does that. Because of this change, true unlimited access now sits only in the top layer of credit cards.

How Unlimited Access Actually Works Today

  • No spend requirement: In true unlimited cards (like HDFC Infinia or Axis Reserve), you don’t have to keep spending every month. Even if you didn’t use card, still you can go lounge and enter. Unlike normal cards, no condition here.
  • Global Reach: These cards mostly come with Priority Pass or Diners Club. So you can use not only India lounges, but outside India also — 1,300+ lounges. If you travel abroad, this helps a lot.
  • Add-on Benefits: You can take add-on card for wife, parents. They can also go lounge same like you, no extra charge. This is big benefit in premium cards.
  • Premium Networks: These cards use higher-level network, so lounges are better. Less crowd, better seating. Sometimes you also get separate section, unlike normal card users.

Types of “Unlimited” Cards in Market

In real world, only two types are there. Card says unlimited, but actual meaning depends on type.

  1. Unconditional (Real Unlimited): This is proper unlimited. You pay high annual fee (₹10,000–₹50,000), but after that bank does not count anything. You can go lounge anytime, no spend, no condition.
    • Quick Examples: HDFC Infinia, ICICI Emeralde Private, Axis Reserve
  2. Conditional (Budget Unlimited): Here card says unlimited, but actually there is condition. If you spend small amount (like ₹5,000 monthly), then only lounge works. If you don’t spend, access stops.
    • Example: Federal Bank Scapia (mostly domestic only)

Top 10 Credit Cards for Unlimited Lounge Access (Updated)

In 2026, the “Top 10” list for unlimited lounge access is mostly filled with super-premium and invite-only cards. Unlike normal cards, these don’t follow spend-based rules and give direct access without conditions.

Most regular cards now need spending to unlock lounge, but these high-end cards work differently — they are made for premium users who want smooth, no-check entry every time.

  • This list is based on research and verification from current card benefits and real usage data.
  • Also note, this is a random list, not in ranking or priority order.

1. HDFC Bank Infinia (Metal) Card

The HDFC Infinia Metal stays on top in 2026 because it gives true unlimited lounge access without any spend condition. Unlike most cards asking ₹35,000–₹50,000 per quarter, here you don’t need to unlock anything. In simple words, we can say this is a unconditional card.

  1. True Unlimited Access: No cap — 1 visit or 50 visits, both same. You can enter lounge anytime in 2026, no tracking, no quarterly reset tension.
  2. Add-on Power (Family Benefit): You will get up to 3 add-on cards allowed. Each member gets their own unlimited access, not shared. This saves big cost for frequent family travellers.

Why Banks Cut Unlimited Lounge Access (2024–2026 Reality)

Between 2024 and 2026, most Indian credit card companies slowly reduced or removed unlimited lounge access. Earlier it was easy — now everything is linked to spending.

Shift to Spend-Based Access (Main Change)

  • HDFC Bank (June 2025): Cards like Tata Neu Infinity now need ₹50,000 quarterly spend to unlock lounge
  • Axis Bank: Magnus requires ₹50,000 spend in last 3 months
  • ICICI Bank: ₹35,000 quarterly spend added for most mid-range cards
  • Bank of Baroda (Jan 2025): Eterna now needs ₹40,000 spend to maintain benefits

Unlike before, now you don’t “have” access — you have to earn it every quarter

Complete Removal (Big Shock)

  • RuPay Platinum Debit Cards: You will not get Lounge access, it will removed from April 1, 2026
  • SBI Cashback Card: Benefit already removed in May 2023
  • Airtel Axis Card: As per CNBC TV, Lounge access ending from April 12, 2026

Why Banks Did This (Real Reason)

  • High Cost: ₹200–₹1,000 per visit, too expensive for banks
  • Overcrowding: Lounges became too crowded, experience dropped
  • Profit Focus: Banks now reward users who actually spend
  • System Change: Moving from DreamFolks to direct tie-ups with stricter rules

FAQs

  1. Which credit card gives unlimited lounge access in India?

Only premium cards like Infinia, Axis Reserve, Emeralde Private give true unlimited access. Most other cards need ₹35K–₹75K spend or give limited visits only.

  2. How many lounge visits are actually “unlimited”?

Unlimited means no fixed cap. You can enter 10 or 50 times. But some cards say unlimited with spend condition, so always read rules before assuming.

  3. Do debit cards have unlimited lounge access?

No, most debit cards usually do not provide unlimited airport lounge access. They usually offer a limited number of complimentary visits per year or quarter, often requiring a minimum spending amount, typically around ₹5,000 in the previous quarter.

  4. Why is my lounge access getting rejected even after having premium card?

Common reasons: spend not completed, card usage disabled, limit reached, or wrong card variant. Even ₹1 less spend or wrong setting → machine rejects instantly.
