In the last few years, many banks started giving airport lounge access on mid-tier debit cards, not only premium credit cards. Because of this, many HDFC customers get a Platinum Debit Card, which sits in the middle category.
Earlier (2025), the process was simple — you could swipe the card at the lounge after small spending.
But from January 10, 2026, things changed:
- Lounge access now works on a digital voucher system
- ₹10,000 quarterly spending is required
- You must unlock benefit online before travel
Also, HDFC has multiple Plantinum card versions, so many people get confused about which canrd they have and how the benefit works.
HDFC Platinum Debit Card Types – Which Card Gets Airport Lounge Access?
HDFC gives a few Platinum debit cards, and many people think all are same. But actually, the card network and benefits can be different, even if the card design looks similar.
| Card Name | Network | Annual Fee | Lounge Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum Debit Card | Visa | ₹850 + GST | Yes – Domestic Lounge |
| Classic Easyshop Platinum Debit Card | Visa | ₹850 + GST | Yes – Domestic |
| Preferred Platinum Debit Card | Mastercard | ₹850 + GST | Yes – Domestic Lounge |
| RuPay Platinum Debit Card | RuPay | ₹200 + GST | No |
One important update also came. As per ETNow, from April 1, 2026, lounge access is stopped for RuPay Platinum debit cards. However, until March 31, 2026, you can still get 1 domestic and 1 international visit per calendar
If you want to check your card type, just look at the small logo on the bottom corner of the card. There you will see Visa, Mastercard, or RuPay, and from that you can understand which lounge benefit applies.
NOTE: The HDFC EasyShop Platinum Debit Card and the HDFC Platinum Debit Card are mostly the same card. EasyShop is just the name HDFC uses for its debit card series, and Platinum means the higher card type. So in most cases, both cards follow the same airport lounge access rules and benefits.
What Is the New Platinum Debit Card Lounge Access Rule by HDFC?– Overview
If you have an HDFC Platinum Debit Card on Visa or Mastercard, the airport lounge benefit usually works with a small spending condition first. After that, you can use the lounge at selected airports.
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Complimentary Domestic Visits | 2 visits in one quarter |
| Maximum in One Year | Up to 8 visits |
| How Entry Works | Generate QR voucher online |
| Eligible Cards | Visa & Mastercard Platinum cards |
| Entry Verification | ₹2 small swipe (reversed later) |
| Voucher Validity | Usually valid till next quarter end |
Before this 2026 rule, this spending rule was ₹5,000 per quarter. But from January 2026, HDFC increased it to ₹10,000. In simple words, if you use the debit card for shopping, petrol, grocery, or online payment, and the total becomes ₹10,000 in that quarter, then the lounge benefit usually unlocks.
Major Lounge Access Changes in 2026
In 2026, HDFC made two important changes in the Platinum Debit Card lounge program. Many customers who were using the old system noticed this change at the airport.
1. New Digital Voucher Entry System
Earlier, the process was very simple.
Old system (before 2026):
- Complete the spending requirement
- Go to the airport lounge
- Swipe the debit card at the counter
- Entry allowed if eligible
But from January 2026, the bank moved this to a voucher system.
New system (2026 onwards):
- Complete the spending requirement
- Receive SMS or email with voucher link OR you can track it directly using Gyftr HDFC.
- Open the link and generate a QR voucher
- Show the QR code at the lounge reception
Now the lounge staff usually scan the QR code instead of swiping the debit card.
2. Higher Spending Requirement
Complete the ₹10,000 spending early in the quarter so you can receive and claim the lounge voucher before your travel date.
| Quarter | Spend Period | Lounge Access |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | Jan – Mar | Unlocks after debit card use spending |
| Q2 | Apr – Jun | Access available once spend requirement is met |
| Q3 | Jul – Sep | Voucher sent after qualifying transactions |
| Q4 | Oct – Dec | Benefit activates after minimum spend |
But one thing to remember, not every transaction counts toward this spending rule. such as
Transactions that usually count:
- Online shopping payments
- POS debit card swipes at stores
Transactions that usually do not count:
- ATM withdrawals
- Wallet loading
- UPI payments (PhonePe, Google Pay, etc.)
- Credit card bill payments
- Debit card EMI transactions
One small thing many people don’t realise: sometimes customers complete the ₹10k spending but still don’t see the voucher immediately. This usually happens because the bank system updates eligibility after the transaction settlement cycle, which can take 1–2 working days after the purchase is posted.
Domestic Airport Lounges Supported
Most HDFC Platinum debit cards follow a shared airport lounge network across major airports in India. The same lounge program is also used on some other HDFC premium debit cards, like Millennia and Business debit cards, so the eligible lounges are usually similar.

| City | Lounge | Terminal | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bengaluru | BLR Domestic Lounge | T1 | Domestic |
| Chennai | Travel Club Lounge A | T1 | Domestic |
| Chennai | Travel Club Lounge B | T1 | Domestic |
| Chennai | Travel Club Lounge | T2 | International |
| Hyderabad | Encalm Lounge | T1 | Domestic |
| Hyderabad | Encalm Lounge | T1 | International |
| Kolkata | Travel Club Lounge | T1 | Domestic |
| Mumbai | Adani Lounge | T2 | Domestic |
| Mumbai | Adani East Lounge | T2 | International |
| New Delhi | Encalm Lounge | T3 | Domestic |
| New Delhi | Encalm Lounge | T3 | International |
These airport lounges are usually operated by hospitality companies like Encalm, Adani Lounge Services, and Travel Club. Inside the lounge, travellers normally get facilities such as:
- Buffet snacks or light meals
- Coffee, tea and soft beverages
- Wi-Fi access
- Charging points for phones and laptops
- Comfortable seating before boarding
Most lounges also keep a 2–3 hour stay limit, especially during busy travel hours. You can also check the latest lounge list and program details here: https://www.hdfc.bank.in/debit-cards/services/airport-lounge-access-on-debit-cards
How to Claim HDFC Platinum Debit Card Lounge Access
- Complete the spending requirement = Simply, use your Platinum debit card for ₹10,000 OR Above spending in the calendar quarter. It can be online shopping or a card swipe at stores. As I already said, just use it while doing No RTGS, NEFT, IMPS or UPI.
- Wait for the bank message = After completing the spending milestone, HDFC usually sends an SMS or email within about 2–3 working days.
- Open the claim link = The message will contain a unique lounge voucher claim link.
- Log in using your mobile number = Enter the mobile number registered with the bank.
- Verify OTP = You will receive an OTP on your phone. Enter it to continue.
- Check lounge eligibility = Once logged in, the page usually shows available lounge voucher details.
- Click “Claim Now” = Select the Claim Voucher option. Sometimes another OTP confirmation may appear.
- Receive voucher code or QR = After claiming, the system sends a 12–18 digit voucher code or QR code to your email or SMS.
- Show the voucher at the airport lounge = At the lounge reception, show your QR code or voucher code along with your boarding pass.
- Entry granted = The lounge staff scans the code and allows complimentary entry, as long as the lounge is part of the HDFC participating lounge network.
Voucher Validity Period
Once the lounge voucher is generated, it usually stays valid until the end of the next calendar quarter.
| Voucher Generated | Valid Until |
|---|---|
| February 2026 | June 30, 2026 |
| March 2026 | June 30, 2026 |
If the voucher code or QR details are lost, they can usually be reissued through the HDFC lounge program helpdesk portal.
In simple words, once you generate the voucher, there is no need to rush and use it immediately. Many people generate the voucher early and keep it ready for their next flight or holiday trip. Just make sure it is used before the expiry quarter ends, otherwise the system will not accept it at the lounge counter.
Related HDFC Debit Card Lounge Program
For comparison, HDFC also provides airport lounge access on its premium HDFC Infiniti Debit Card. This card usually comes with higher lounge benefits compared to the Platinum debit card.
| Card | Lounge Benefit | Per Quarterly Limit | Spend Requirement | Annual Fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Infiniti Debit Card | 16 domestic lounge visits per year | 4 visits | Not required | ₹2,500 + taxes |
In simple terms, the Infiniti Debit Card is designed for frequent travellers. People who travel many times in a year often prefer this card because lounge access works without any spending condition.
On the other hand, the Platinum debit card is more common for regular savings account holders who travel occasionally and only need lounge access a few times in a year.
