How to Update Your Address for Bharat Gas

Bharat Gas is one of the biggest LPG Providers in India with a total of 8 crore household connections. Bharat Petroleum’s network of distributors and online services makes life more convenient for customers.

But the problem starts when you shift to a new house or move to another city. Then, your your LPG connection is still linked to your old address, you may encounter multiple issues, including delivery problems, subsidy delays, or even service disruptions.

However, the good news is that Bharat Gas offers you two direct online and offline options to modify your address:

• Online – through the official Bharat Gas portal (my.ebharatgas.com).
• Offline – by visiting your nearest Bharat Gas distributor.

Step-by-step guide to change your Bharat Gas address

1. Online Method: Through the Bharat Gas Portal

This is the official method offered by BPCL for primary LPG holders to update their address by sitting home, it is a pure digital and a few-minute process, follow the steps –

1. Firstly, visit the official portal of Bharat Petroleum for LPG – https://my.ebharatgas.com/
2. Tap on the Login button and enter your Login ID and password to access.
   • For a New user, enter your consumer number, linked mobile number, and OTP to set a new login ID and password.
3. On the dashboard, click on Submit KYC under Customer Console.
4. Now, scroll down and enter your new address details in the Contact information section.
5. Enter details like POA category, POA number, house name, street name, landmark, city, state, PIN code, email (if changed), and Telephone number (if changed).
6. You have to select a valid Proof of Address document from the accepted list.
7. Scroll down to the end and choose the reason for the KYC update as an Address Update option.
8. Here, you have to enter a scanned copy of your POA Document.
9. Tap on the Submit button, and the process will start.
10. It will take upto 3 to 5 working days, and an update notification will be sent to your email ID.
11. If the document mismatches or any other issue happens, they will ask you to re-upload or visit your local BharatGas distributor office.

Note: Before uploading a document, your file must be size 30 KB to 300 KB and file formats accepted of PDF, JPEG, JPG, and PNG only.

2. Offline Method: By Visiting Your Local Distributor

1. For this method, you have to visit your current Bharat Gas distributor and inform them about your new address.
2. Fill out the address change application form provided at the office.
3. Attach a copy of your Proof of Address (POA) and your Gas Subscription Voucher (SV).

If you’re moving within the same city:

• You don’t need to return your cylinder or regulator.
• The distributor will issue a Transfer Advice (TA) valid for 3 months.
• Submit this TA to your new local distributor to update your records.

If you’re moving to another city:

• You’ll need to surrender your cylinder and regulator.
• Your current distributor will issue a Termination Voucher (TV) and refund your deposit.
• Once you shift to your new city, just take your TV (Transfer Voucher) to your city’s local distributor to request your connection at your latest address.
• It usually takes 24 hours for same-city updates and 3–5 days for inter-city transfers.

What documents are accepted as proof of address?

When a proposal for an address change is made, Bharat Petroleum requires one to provide an official, government-approved, valid proof of address (POA) as per their database.

Bharat Gas accepts a wide range of documents, including:

• Aadhaar Card (UID)
• Voter ID
• Passport
• Driving License
• Rent/Lease Agreement
• Ration Card
• Electricity/Water/Telephone Bill
• House Registration Document
• LIC Policy
• Bank/Credit Card/Post Office Statement
• File Allotment or Possession Letter
• Self-declaration by a Gazetted Officer

Tip: If you are a tenant, your rental agreement and an Aadhaar card showing your current mobile number are usually enough.

Which situations require a Bharat Gas address change?

An address change is required whenever your registered address mismatches with your current living address with Bharat Gas. most of the time, such as –

1. Moving to a new house within the same city.
2. Shifting to a different city or state.
3. Changing your house number or street name due to municipal updates.
4. Correcting an error in your original address.

Even little changes — like adding a flat number or correcting the PIN code — should be updated to prevent delivery issues.

Why is updating your Bharat Gas address important?

Keeping your address current isn’t just about convenience. It affects:

• Cylinder delivery – Your distributor uses the registered address for all deliveries.
• Safety compliance – The records must reflect the correct household for safety inspections.
• KYC and subsidy processing – Address mismatches can lead to delays in receiving LPG subsidies.
• Proof for other services – Your LPG Subscription Voucher (SV) is often accepted as proof of residence for other government and banking services.

Who can apply for an address change?

1. The registered consumer (the person in whose name the LPG connection exists) can request the change.
2. If the consumer is unavailable, a family member may apply, provided they show authorisation and ID proof. You need to provide an official document of the primary owner.
3. Tenants or renters can also update their address by submitting a valid rent agreement and owner name, utility bills (water or electricity bills last 3 months), along with their consumer details.

Common Issues and Their Solutions

• Document Rejected: Ensure your scanned copy is clear, and details match your consumer record.
• OTP Not Received: Check your registered mobile number. If outdated, update it at your distributor’s office.
