Find Your Union Bank Customer ID: A Simple Guide

One of the stories of my client and friend, Meet Sonu, from Rewari, a small town, who recently opened a savings account with the Union Bank of India. Excited to try mobile banking for the first time, he downloaded the Vyom app, ready to check his balance and make his first online payment.

But right at the registration screen, Sonu got stuck on “Enter your Customer ID?”

He paused and asked – “What is this Customer ID? Where do I even find it?”

If you have ever faced a similar issue, don’t worry — you’re not alone.

This guide is for people just like Sonu (and maybe you).

Hi, I’m Nanne Parmar, a finance author and editor. I can relate to your confusion. That’s why I have created this super simple guide to show you how to find your Union Bank Customer ID — even if you don’t want to log in anywhere or visit a bank.

Just scroll down and explore every option step-by-step. So, without wasting time, let’s begin the guide –

What is the Union Bank Customer ID?

Let find your union bank customer ID by screenshot

Union Bank of India is one of India’s largest government banks. It became the 5th largest public sector bank in India after its merger with Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank.

According to the Data from the Union Bank Wikipedia Page, the bank operates assets worth ₹14.59 lakh crore (around $170 billion) and serves more than 15.3 crore customers (153 million+) as of 31st March 2025.

To manage such a massive network efficiently and each customer easily, Union Bank assigns a Customer ID — also known as a CIF (Customer Information File) number — to each customer.

How is it different from your account number?

  • Your Account Number is tied to a single bank account.
  • Your Customer ID is linked to you, not just one account.
  • You may have multiple accounts, cards, or services, but all under one Customer ID.
  • It’s usually 8 to 11 digits long, depending on the bank’s internal system.
  • This Customer ID also acts as your login ID for Internet and Mobile Banking.

Where is the CIF Number required in Union Bank?

  • During registration for the Vyom mobile banking app
  • When signing in to Internet Banking
  • While contacting Customer Care
  • For loan applications or updating KYC
  • For viewing/downloading bank statements

Now you understand how important it can be. So let’s dive into all the ways to retrieve it.
