Understanding the HDFC Bank Customer ID

Step 1: Go to HDFC NetBanking & Choose “Forgot Customer ID”

- Visit the HDFC NetBanking login page:

Step 2: Provide Your Registered Details

On the Recover Customer ID screen, fill in:
- Registered mobile number (including +91 OR Other country)
- Select or type your Full Date of Birth in DDMMYYYY format
- PAN number (full)
- Captcha as shown on screen
Then click “Continue”
Step 3: Verify via OTP for confirmation

Now, you will get a 6-digit one-time password on your registered mobile number. Simply, enter it and tap on Continue.
Step 4: View Your Customer ID on Display

After entering the OTP, you will get your CIF ID in front of your display. You can take a Screenshot or write it down somewhere safe.
2. Use the HDFC Mobile Banking App
Yes, it is also a quite simple way to find your customer ID within a few clicks. All you need is your debit card and an active bank-registered mobile number. Follow the steps to know it –
- Download the HDFC Bank MobileBanking App from the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store
- Open the app and tap “Continue”
- Accept the terms and tap “Let’s Begin”
- Select your account type (Savings, Current, etc.)
- Choose the SIM linked to your bank account
- The app will auto-verify within 60 seconds
- Confirm your identity using the last digits of the Customer ID
- Enter your debit card details (Like Expiry, card number, CVV) to set a 4-digit MPIN
- Log in using your MPIN
- Tap on the menu (left top corner), then tap on Your Profile → Personal Details
- Your Customer ID will be visible on this screen.
3. Check Your Welcome Kit, Letters, and Documents

If you recently opened an account, your Customer ID will be printed on various documents:
- Welcome Letter: Sent via India Post after Half KYC is completed. Customer ID is usually printed at the top.
- Passbook: On the first page, near your name and branch details.
- Cheque Book: The First page often displays your Customer ID.
- Credit Card Welcome Letter: If you applied for an HDFC Credit Card, the letter attached to your card will show your Customer ID just below the credit limit.

You can also view your HDFC Customer ID if your bank receives monthly e-statements and physical statements. Here are the steps to follow –
- Open the HDFC Mobile App
- Log in using your 4-digit MPIN or Face ID
- Tap on Account Details and scroll down to the statement section.
- Tap on Statement → Request Statement
- Choose the month and generate the PDF
- View the statement — your Customer ID is usually shown as “Cust ID”.
Note: HDFC statements don’t require a password to open only if you download via the mobile banking app and netbanking.

- Tap on A/C Statement

- Your statement will open with your Customer ID visible
