What is Madhya Pradesh Gramin Bank?

Madhya Pradesh Gramin Bank (MPGB) is a government-owned regional rural bank serving millions of customers across the state. According to Banking Frontiers, MPGB now serves over 12.53 million customers, most of whom live in rural towns and villages.
To serve this massive customer base better, Madhya Pradesh Gramin Bank was formed through the merger of:
- Narmada Jhabua Gramin Bank and Central Madhya Pradesh Gramin Bank merged in starting of 2019.
- And later, in May 2025, it merged again with Madhyanchal Gramin Bank for a 1 RRB in 1 State policy.
This merger brought all rural banking operations in the state under one umbrella. For the bank, what is important is to realise that not every customer checks their accounts via smartphones every day; hence, under a mix of traditional and digital approaches, customers can check their balances very easily and quite quickly.
MPGB Merger: What It Means for You
If you had an account in any of the older banks, don’t worry — your account has automatically moved to the new Madhya Pradesh Gramin Bank. Your balance, account number, and details remain safe. Now, you get access to improved services like:
- Missed call Alerts
- ATM and Micro ATM access
- Internet banking
- Customer support
- And soon — UPI, WhatsApp Banking, and a dedicated mobile app
Let’s now explore how you can check your balance easily, anytime, anywhere.
1. MPGB Missed Call Balance Checking Number
For this method, you need a phone and a registered mobile number with the bank. As I mentioned earlier, you don’t need the internet or Wi-Fi for this; however, your phone must have an active recharge for the missed call, of course.

As announced on the official MPGB Facebook page on August 1, 2022, the bank officially launched the missed call alert facility for Account holders. To check your balance, you need to dial 8010968293 from your registered mobile number.
Follow the steps:
- Step 1: Dial the number from your registered mobile number.
- Step 2: The call will automatically disconnect after 1 to 5 seconds.
- Step 3: You will receive an SMS from BOI-MPGB with the Current balance.
Note: If your number is linked to multiple accounts with MPGB, all account balances will be displayed.
If you are not receiving an SMS, please make sure your mobile number is registered with the bank. If not, please visit your home branch, ask for a mobile number update and SMS Alerts form, fill it out, submit it, and after a few hours, it will be activated.
Tip: If you’re still not receiving an SMS, there might be a banking issue. Try calling again after a few hours.
Let’s move to the next method; it is online and easy to go to –
2. MPGB bank Internet Banking
I introduced MPGB Netbanking to Rajesh. It not only shows your account balance but is also helpful for other banking functions on your mobile phone, like downloading mini statements, money transfers, IFSC Codes, and more.
Follow the steps to view your balance using net banking –
1 Step: Registration
If you are new to MPGB Online banking, you need to register first.
- First, you need to visit your MPGB home branch and request an internet banking application form. Also, you can download it from the online net banking portal.
- Fill out the form with your personal and banking details, such as your customer ID, account number, and mobile number. (You may also need to attach an Aadhaar copy)
- Submit the form and wait for activation (usually 24 hours).
- Once activated, you will receive a user ID and temporary password via Email and SMS.
Step 2: Log In
- Now, you have to visit the official website of MPGB Bank and click on the Internet banking option.
- Enter your user ID, temporary password, and Captcha to log in that you received by email and SMS.
- On your first login, create a new strong password for security.
- On the dashboard, locate the “Account Summary” section in the menu.
- Here, you can view your balance and also download a statement PDF for printing.
These steps are quite easy to follow, even my client Rajesh liked them. However, MPGB has one more option, let’s check it out –
3. ATM & Micro ATM Services
For customer convenience, MPGB offers RuPay ATM cards. It also offers two credit cards: the Kisan Credit Card and the Swarojgar Credit Card. RuPay Cards are widely accepted at ATMs, Micro ATMs, and POS.
However, this is the traditional method; you do not need the Internet and a mobile phone. All you need to find the nearest ATM is to use NPCI ATM Finder OR MPGB Bank ATM Locator. After that,
- Insert your MPGB RuPay Debit Card into an ATM.
- Select your language, choose account type, and enter your ATM PIN.
- Go to the menu and choose “Balance Enquiry Option” to see your account balance.
4. MPGB Customer Care Support
If the above options are not working for you, please contact the bank.
The currently working on general enquiry customer care numbers are (0731) 244 5333 and 1800 233 6295.
Both are toll-free numbers and available 24/7. To talk with a bank representative, the best time to call is after 11:00 AM.
To talk with a bank representative, I suggest you call after 11:00 AM. While calling, keep your bank details handy for verification.
Remember: Never share their banking details like OTPs, Passwords, and any other sensitive information with anyone, even with MPGB bank staff.
Visit Your Home Branch
In case customer care is unresponsive, and your issues remain unresolved, take your passbook and visit your home branch.
- Request to update your passbook for the latest transactions and balances with the bank staff.
- Also, register your mobile number for missed calls and SMS alerts.
